E-mail "God Nudges"

Doris Clark Splichal • Jul 19, 2020

You know how it is sometimes...you have good ideas, good intentions but somehow life gets in the way and you just don't get around to doing what should be done.

Email God Nudges

Well, last Sunday, I received an e-mail from someone who had purchased my devotional book, SIMPLY FAITH HOPE AND LOVE for her son. I asked her if I could share it on my website and she said , Yes. So, here is the e-mail and my answer to it.

"Good morning Ms. Clark,

As a mother of an adult with developmental disabilities, I want to thank you for the book, "Simply Faith, Hope and Love". It has made our devotional time together so sweet with the Lord. My son has found many other devotions frustrating and difficult to understand. But with the help of this book, the Lord's words encourage him and I can see his relationship with God growing and his faith strengthened. Are there any other resources you can recommend?

Sally."

"Sally,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to me regarding "Simply Faith, Hope and Love". I am delighted that you and your son are enjoying your devotional time together. Thank you for the encouragement that your e-mail brings to me. It describes exactly why this book was written.

You have inspired me to begin a project which I have wanted to do for some time. I want to do a series of these book, each for a one-month period of time.

It is still difficult to find simplified devotional material that is not too childish. You might want to look at some of Sarah Young's JESUS CALLING books for young readers. I have not looked at those for some time and am not sure what is now available.

Would you mind if I share your e-mail on my website? I also have a Facebook business page and would love to have you look at it and like it , if you do.

God has used you today to tell me to get busy with this project!

May God bless you and your son.

God hugs to you,

Doris"

When God chooses who will serve him, he looks at the spirit not what is easily seen. In our church there is a young man who has Cerebral Palsy. He is confined to a specially designed wheel chair. His speech is impaired and his body does not respond as he would like. It is often out of his control and goes its own way. His mother sings in the choir and brings him to rehearsals with her on Wednesday evenings and on Sundays he can be found in his chair next to the first row at the front of the church engaging in worship. Recently a choir member, who is single, shared a lovely story about God's infinite wisdom in sending his servants to do his work. She had experienced a particularly difficult week. She was feeling alone and greatly in need of comfort. In her angst she prayed to God saying, "God, I just need you to send me someone to touch me--to give me human comfort." She sings in the choir and went to the rehearsal on Wednesday evening. As she was preparing her music, absorbed in getting ready for instruction, Michael directed his chair and came to a stop next to her. She reached out her hand to him and he took it, continuing to hold it even as she sang. Suddenly, she was struck with the realization that God was answering her prayer. Michael was the one God sent to provide touch and comfort for her. And, he was obeying his God. God's wisdom is infinite. Sometimes we entertain angels unaware
